A good friend of mine started drawing expansion-type art recently. Check out some of her stuff, it's pretty good.

Appearance
Hair: Platinum-white hair turning to black down to a short, thin ponytail, which a spot of black at the tip of his widow's peak.
Eye color: Red
Height: 5'6
Weight: 168 lbs.
Weakness: Cold, flies headlong and recklessly into battle, possesses keen agility to make up for overall lacking defenses.
Distinctive marks: Heavy burn marks and several lateral scars going up his arms, nails are a discolored white.
Clothing: Standard uniform faded at the edges and sleeveless, with a pair of scissor-shaped daggers sticking out just at the sides of the obi.
Hand wear: Pair of tight black fingerless gloves

Personality: Under normal circumstances, Akemi is a compassionate, honorable individual. He puts the needs of others before his own constantly and is quite pleasant, albeit with a nervous twitch at sudden noises or surprises. In the heat of battle, however, an unnatural glee overtakes him. Pain is not only the greatest motivator, but the fastest teacher, and he craves every moment. As a competitor, Akemi loves sports and training with others, pushing himself as hard as he can. As a captain, he likes to be close to his troops and is often bothered by formal titles and procedure.

Zanpakuto
Zanpakuto’s name: Hiruhizashi (Noonday Sun)
Zanpakuto’s seal state appearance: A pair of daggers with large ring-like finger grips on the hilt, extending down to thin blades.
Shikai release words: Desiccate
Shikai appearance: The two daggers fuse to become a wrist mounted blade on the right arm, with two 2.5 ft. long needle-like tips curving around the forearm sides. The mounting is black leather with restraint-like bands digging deep into his flesh all the way up to his elbow.
Shikai abilities:
Fata Morgana- The blade glows red hot, creating massive waves of heat that create space-distorting mirages. As Akemi experiences pain, the heat intensifies to reflect.
Atacama- A focused jab with his right fist, the point of which becomes white hot. Whatever gets caught in the way of this devastating attack finds its moisture evaporating at a slow but steady rate.
Kataba Wind- A swift slash curving upward focuses the heat into a condensed blast of hot wind that hurls toward the opponent like a cannonball

Bankai's name: Tenshinhizashi Waikyoku (Torturous Zenith Sun)
Bankai's Apperance: A second blade appears on Akemi's other wrist, the straps a faded leather going all the way to his chest. Each blade now has three 4' long gold blades that glow slightly. Above his back, a bronze ring hovers just behind his shoulders.
Bankai ability: Tenshinhizashi Waikyoku's bronze disk hovers above Akemi's back, radiating heat at over 1,200 degrees farenhiet. It also curves and bends, allowing more precise control of the intense heat. The illusions around him bend and shift in much less subtle ways, making him seem further away or closer then he actually is, as well as obscuring his outline.
The golden blades are much hotter then the aura, slicing through many materials like a hot knife through butter.

Kido: Knows only the most basic, shows little interest in learning more.
Other weapons: Is also a skilled martial artist, specializing in rapid jabs and strikes.

History:
Akemi was raised by his father in the lower 42nd district of the Western Rukongai after his mother died in childbirth. In the 42nd, there were numerous gangs that vied for control, and almost all youths were drafted as early as possible. Akemi fell in with one of the rougher groups, often beat up due to his small stature. In time however, Akemi became used to the pain, even enjoying it on a certain level. Pain gave him strength, the will to keep going, and most importantly, it made him feel alive.
One night though, after a big drag out brawl with an opposing gang, Akemi awoke to find his house on fire and his father brutally beaten. As he tried to drag him to safety, his arms became scarred and burned. Try as he might, his father ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His last words were for Akemi to 'live for others and be a good man.'
With what little he had, Akemi left the 42nd and entered the shinigami academy. The rest is pretty much history. He tries not to dwell on the past very much, preferring to move forward with his life.
